The People Behind the Builds
Behind every tray, canopy and module that leaves the CCOR workshop is more than just aluminium and welds. There’s a small team of people who care deeply about how things are built — and just as importantly, why they’re built that way.
Custom Concepts Off Road has been operating for over 11 years, and while the products have evolved, one thing has remained constant: every build starts with listening.
The Team.
A family business, by design
At the heart of CCOR is Jai, Director, Designer and Fabricator. While he leads the design direction of every build, he’s also very much still on the tools. From early concepts through to fabrication and fit-out, Jai is hands-on in the workshop, ensuring what’s designed on the screen actually works in the real world.
Alongside him is Steve, Lead Fabricator, responsible for turning those designs into finished builds that can handle serious work and long-term use. Precision, consistency and pride in workmanship are non-negotiable on the workshop floor.
Keeping everything running around the fabrication side is Mel, who manages admin, scheduling and all the details that don’t involve welding — as well as lending a hand with the fiddly parts of fit-outs where patience and attention to detail matter most.
You’ll also spot Logan and Jettson in the photo. They’re Jai and Mel’s sons, and while they’re not officially part of the workforce just yet, you’ll often see them around the shed — visiting the team, helping out with a broom, or enjoying a ride with Dad on the forklift. It’s a reminder that CCOR is very much a family business, built for the long term, not just the next job.
Built around the customer, not the catalogue
One thing CCOR refuses to compromise on is customer needs. Every build is approached as its own project, shaped by how a vehicle will actually be used, what needs to be carried, and the realities of the customer’s work or travel.
In an industry increasingly crowded with imported products and cut-and-paste builds, that approach matters. Too often, customers are told what they should want rather than being heard. At CCOR, the process works the other way around — listening first, designing second.
It’s also why customers often say the same things once a build is complete: they appreciate the time spent designing around their real needs, and the effort made to work within genuine timeframes, not promises that don’t stack up once work begins.
A business that’s grown by refining, not rushing
Over the past 12–24 months, CCOR has undergone deliberate change. The business relocated to Queensland, the team was streamlined, and the focus shifted back toward individual, high-quality builds rather than chasing volume.
That change wasn’t about stepping back — it was about sharpening the business and returning to what made CCOR what it is in the first place.
Today, CCOR works across trade, fleet, touring and one-off private builds. Trade and fleet customers are a key focus because they rely on well-designed, hard-working setups that need to perform day in, day out. At the same time, CCOR continues to take on bespoke touring and private builds where functionality, layout and finish matter just as much.
Looking ahead
The direction forward for CCOR is clear: keep refining, keep improving, and keep building setups that earn their place on the road.
You’ll continue to see CCOR trays and canopies evolving — not through constant reinvention, but through considered design improvements informed by real use, real feedback and years of experience. New ideas and developments are always in motion within the workshop, with a focus on making setups more practical, cohesive and adaptable over time.
At its core, nothing changes. CCOR remains committed to building practical, purpose-driven setups, designed with care and built by people who take pride in seeing their work out in the real world — loaded up, working hard, and doing exactly what they were built to do.
If you’re planning a build and want to work with a team that values listening, honest design and hands-on craftsmanship, the conversation always starts the same way: with a listen.
